On the other hand, m-w.com lists no irregular plural form...

Nouns ending with y but preceded by a vowel only take s in the plural. I think that many people have assumed the rule where the noun ends in y and it taking 'ies' in the plural but this only works when the y is preceded by a consonant.

Too many ignorant English native-speakers posting on the internet and getting high scores in Google to confuse foreigners. ;)

Echt erstaunlich, wie sich etwas falsches so stark verbreiten kann...
Ich hätte auch darauf schwören können, dass smily/smilies korrekt ist, das sieht einfach richtiger aus...
