bleeding gums as metaphor for what?

    Comment
in a book review: "an on and boringly on he goes, as your gums begin to bleed" (quoted from memory, about a 'celebrity' book)

I've read that before - now they can't mean lack of vitamin C and scurvy, so what else makes your gums bleed? Boredom? Bad quality? Cheek?

Is this simply a new way of saying "as your eyes begin to glaze over"?

    Metaphor A to Z

    Bleeding Gums

Bleeding from our gums means that our interface with the world reflects feelings about sacrifice; it reflects wounded sensitivities about life.

We are caught in a sacrifice pattern, which is coming from a buried script or story, and it is eating away at us.

We feel unable or unwilling to communicate our vulnerability and are not prepared to be exposed at this level of intimacy.

While we fear sharing this depth of our feeling, we are also experiencing a need for tenderness.
