zwei freunde von mir, einer war an einer amerikanischen schule, der andere war in kanada, schreiben immer 'anyways' statt anyway. ich hab das wort in leo nicht gefunden und frage mich nun, ob das slang ist, oder ob man es überhaupt verwenden kann/darf.

"Anyways" is an archaic or dialect form of "anyway" still in use in America, unlike "anyroad" which is now very rare. Leastways, that's what I do reckon.

naja ich bin momentan in den USA und man kann auf jeden fall beides sagen, anyways is eher slang. Grammatikalisch ist es jedenfall nicht richtig lol

ZB: I try not to but I do it anyway(s).

i have to butt in here. in another posting someone got it exactly correct, its used alot as a filler word, like 'also' or even 'na ja'. it can also be used like anyway.

also *careful* for those who like to call it slang and for the grammar popes who preach against it: it is in the oxford dictionary and remember english, like all languages, is an evolving creature. you can't put restrictions on it, it's better just to guage it and see what constitutes current popular usage.

anyways, listen to me blab on!

    related discussion: anyways

    'Anyway' is the standard form.

'Anyways' is colloquial or regional AE, but not standard in writing or more serious speech.

@fred: What do you mean by "it is in the oxford dictionary"? I cannot find it neither in the printed nor in the online version...
