Im Übrigen wird auch Monica aus der Fernsehserie "Friends" gern als anal-retentive beschrieben.
Ich bin mir bei meinem Übersetzungsvorschlag "neurotisch" unsicher, das mag zu einschränkend sein. Auf jeden Fall ist es nicht im strengen medizinischen/psychologischen Sinne gemeint.

KommentarFür die umgangssprachliche Verrwendung plädiere ich für korinthenkackerisch - wobei mir heute die norddeutsche Variante pinneschieterig erstmalig begegnet ist.
Der Psycholoische Fachbegriff ist wohl (mit anderer Betonung) in beiden Sprachen identisch.

KommentarThere have been several previous threads on this, which I trust Doris and/or Katja will have read, so I don't want to run it into the ground.

But IMO an important point to keep in mind is that 'anal retentive' is a formal, technical, neutrally descriptive term used in psychology and medicine. 'Anal,' in contrast, is a perfectly everyday derogatory colloquial term. The two terms should be marked accordingly, and translations (and I would suggest offering a range of several) should if possible reflect this sharp difference in diction and usage.
