FWIW: >> If I understand your mission correctly, and if I were to run such a watchdog site, I would assume that the correct addressee would be the Germans.
A. Those who have followed Davids Medienkritik from the very beginning know that it began as a German-language site.
David began to write in English and I joined him in September 2003 as a translator because, at that time, there was virtually no German-language blogosphere to speak of and the only way to win an audience was to gain attention and links from larger English-language blogs.
In other words, switching to English in 2003 was the only way for us to grow an audience and gain influence at that point in time. It was a strategic decision that worked out very well.
Right now we are in the process of switching back to some German-language pieces to better reach the German audience. On the other hand, we believe that it is important for as many people as possible to understand what is going on, not only Germans, so we will also stick with some English pieces as well.
David and I love Germany (we are both German citizens) and we want to see real change. http://medienkritik.typepad.com/blog/2006/08/...
Wer an Verschwörungstheorien glaubt oder empfänglich ist.. na ja, vielleicht sind die zwei keine "German citizens". :-)
