Ich hätte auch Lourdes wie den französischen Wallfahrtsort und León wie die spanische Region ausgesprochen.

Lurd lion hätte ich es ausgesprochen. Aber das 'lion' ist geraten, bei 'lurd' bin ich mir aber sicher. Das habe ich schon gehört.

Ich würde den Namen auch so aussprechen, habe aber schon Fernsehjournalisten in irgendwelchen "Wir-wissen-alles-über-Stars-Sendungen" "Lurdess" sagen hören, wenn sie Madonnas Tochter meinten. (Mit Betonung auf der zweiten Silbe.)

Ob die es besser wissen, weil sie vielleicht einen direkten Draht zu Madonna haben? ;)

I don't know how Madonna pronounces it once it's been Americanized or imported to Scotland or wherever she lives now, but in Spanish as far as I know, both the shrine and the woman's name are pronounced /'lu:r-des/, with the S pronounced. I've always heard the accent as being on the first syllable; I wonder if it just seems like the last syllable to people who aren't expecting a second syllable at all.

León has a written accent in Spanish and is pronounced accordingly: /le-'o:n/. It means lion, if you count that as a LEO connection. (-:

I agree with the others, who say in the U.S. it's pronounced with the "s". As a female name it has 2 syllables. I have a Puerto Rican friend named Lourdes and that's how she pronounces it. I pronounced it once the French way and she corrected me, saying that's not how it's pronounced in PR. I assume that's true thoughout all of Latin America.

Ein bisschen Recherche ergab: Kein Mensch weiß wirklich, wie Madonna den eingetragenen Namen ihrer Tochter ausspricht - offenbar, weil sie es selbst nicht weiß und sie stattdessen "Lola" nennt.

The only Lourdes I ever knew (actually: Maria de Lourdes) pronounced it Lourdess (two syllables). But she was Spanish-speaking.

Wenn hier jemand seine Tochter "Lurdes" nennen würde, käme er sofort in Schakkelinismus-Verdacht. Und Lehrer, die die "Herr der Ringe"-Verfilmung gesehen haben, werden das nach dem Hören natürlich "Lurtz" schreiben.
