| Kommentar | Many of Loriot's dialogues have become common property. Much of what he did was ironic and just slightly 'off', but, just like the old grandfather, only a shaved inch from the truth. The amateurish look is certainly part of TV in the seventies, but if you look at home videos from the time, that's what things looked like (makes me want to curl up and die, but at the time we didn't notice).
Maybe you had to grow up in the 70s in Germany to understand all of it, but most of what he did still holds true, like radio/TV interviews, politician speak and dialogues of long-married couples. In fact, after nearly 30 years at the side of the same man, I have caught myself perilously close to them at times.
One of my favorites is 'Der Kunstpfeifer', every time I work with one of those high-flying architects, I feel just like the reporter.
I am willing to bet that tomorrow, after we'll have set up and decorated the tree, my husband will emerge from the office (he always goes into hiding during the decoration process after he upended the fully decorated tree one year - talk about fireworks one week early) and say 'Früher war mehr Lametta'. Justified, as we do not use Lametta at all.
I frequently use Loriot's 'ach?'; if a kid makes a real blunder, one of my reactions might be 'das war Futur II bei Sonnenaufgang' and I just loved his obituary in the paper (I don't remember by whom): one page, nearly empty except for 4 words: Lieber Gott - viel Spaß |
