... die netten Menschen ...
Here's a Remainer farmer descanting on the situation:
A source in Brussels, alluding to the determination of the EU not to be the ones who break off talks said: 'It's a bit like dealing with a terminally ill patient. No one wants to take responsibility for switching off the life support'.
That's where we are, four years down the line from our original brainstorm.
Again today, watching Boris Johnson talking confusedly about some fantasy of his concerning an 'Australian type deal' , I noticed that all too familiar , barely controlled smirk beginning to spread across his face, as if he could barely restrain himself from bursting into laughter.
That is actually hurtful. I know he is probably too silly and infantile to understand, but tens of thousands of people, from farmers like us, to transport industry bosses, retail suppliers, and many others, have been trying to adapt and save their businesses in an unparalleled atmosphere of confusion and uncertainty. Four years of stress, worry, financial hardship, emotional strain. All exacerbated by the antics of HMG. Which has behaved in a grossly irresponsible and feckless manner, for reasons which escape me completely.
So, rather than becoming furious, again, while watching Johnson grin at me from the TV, I felt utterly desolate. What does this man know of my family's struggles? Or those of millions of others, that he can look so flippant and unconcerned? Nothing. He can't possibly understand. And clearly, he cares even less. It does hurt! Really!
I went out to talk to the pigs.
Then, the talk of haircuts, and expensive handbags...The patronising oversimplification of a vital point of difference between the UK and the EU , further parlayed into their threatening to 'punish' us till the end of days, which, incidentally, is playing nicely with the 'Very well! Alone!' brigade. That actually inspired me to move a tonne of fodder beets under cover in record time!
Fuming and spluttering maledictions the while.
Ah well. Loads of paperwork to do. Must flutter away.
Excellent cartoon!

Slouches towards Blighty to be born?'

The real sticking point is no longer fish but the ratchet clause.
