    This is the name of a forum on ProZ. http://www.proz.com/forum/23
    I was just wondering if anyone knows what it means: is it comparing translators with chickens, or is this the way you write co-op in US English? Or is it some kind of wordplay based on both? (I'd ask on ProZ, but am a little confused by the multitude of forums they have there.)

    i think it simply means people cooped up with their computers... with others in a similar position nearby to cackle with - they do sort of share fate and interests

    Which meaning of coop/co-op should I check out? This one?

    The Harvard Coop is pronounced like the chicken shed, probably for facetious reasons. Otherwise it's just the short form of "cooperative," with no hyphen or dieresis but still pronounced as two syllables. The meaning is usually clear enough. Even if cooped-up translators could be guilty of a modest pun.
