Judging by the stories in this thread, it would appear having random (and sometimes sticky!) objects cut out of one's hair is some type of rite of passage for little girls. I'm glad it wasn't just me!
I did other crazy things too. One time, my best friend and I decided to =give each other haircuts. We each cut a big chunk of each other's hair off, then combed over the spot and thought it looked fine. The next morning, my mom was combing my hair and said "What happened here!", so of course I said "...I don't know." My mom had just taken me to get a haircut a couple days before, so she thought the lady cutting my hair did it. I figured I would let her go on thinking that, no harm done. Then she decided to call the salon about the terrible haircut. I felt really bad, I didn't want that nice lady to get in trouble so I confessed.
Another time, I wanted to see what food coloring tasted like, so I took a big soup spoon, filled it up with green coloring and ate it. For the record, it tasted terrible! And it dyed my tongue and teeth bright green. My mom kept brushing my teeth over and over again but it wouldn't come off. My mouth stayed green for a few days.
And lastly, when I was young I had some old pots and pans out in the sandbox and I would pretend that I was cooking. My mom always had a vegetable garden, so she would say that I could use any vegetables that were damaged too much to eat or that had fallen off the plant and were too old to eat. So one time, I collected all the old, overripe tomates, mashed them up in a big pot and dumped them on the dog. My mom had a really hard time cleaning old, mashed tomatoes off a dog with long, thick fur. She was not pleased.
You know, looking over this post and my last, I know I wasn't a bad child, but I sure did put my poor mom through a lot. I think mothers should definitely get some kind of award, it can't be easy raising us!
