Achtung, dies ist ein Uraltfaden!

Mir ist whimsey in diesem Guardian-Artikel zu einer Ausstellungseröffnung über den Weg gelaufen:

In folgendem Ausschnitt kommt whimsy vor:

Und jetzt rätsele ich, ob die hier im Faden vorgeschlagenen Übersetzungen, die in die Richtung putzig, altmodisch, ... gehen, hier wirklich passen und gemeint sind. Könnte schon passen, aber ich bin nicht sicher. Was meint Ihr?

PS: Nachdem ich den gesamten Artikel gelesen habe, bin ich jetzt recht sicher, dass sowas wie altmodisch oder verstaubt tatsächlich gemeint ist. Da war ich mit meiner Frage mal wieder zu voreilig. Allerdings ist das whimsy hier schon negativ (zumindest in Richtung langweilig) gemeint oder? Das würde #1 und #3 etwas widersprechen.
