Hi all, I'm reading a book in German at the moment about the death of Pope John Paul I; in this book, naturally enough, the names of a number of other Popes are mentioned, e.g. "Papst Johannes XXIII," "Pope Paul VI," etc. In my "inner voice" I read these as "Papst John Paul der Erste, Papst Johannes der Dreiundzwanzigsten, Papst Paul der Sechste," etc. when they're in the nominative. My question is, what happens when they're in the accusative, dative or genitive? Does it then become "Papst X den Ysten, Papst X dem Ynten, Papst X des Ytens"?
Thanks for your help - it's a good book, by the way
