| Kommentar | Well, yes, it is pretty good for someone who's still learning English. I can see that you've already worked hard on it and thought about it a lot.
Is the 'you' in the first verse supposed to be the word 'beautiful'? Like this, more or less?
Schön, was ist das? Ich habe keine Ahnung. Schön, es ist traurig, dass ich an dich nicht rankomme.
I'm just not sure that works -- or at least, I'm not sure the meaning is clear at first glance.
There are also some mistakes in the rhyme scheme. 'That' and 'sad,' 'look' and 'good,' and 'together' and 'never' don't really rhyme; they have the same vowel sound, but a different consonant sound. There's also a little mistake in the meter -- 'wherever you' has one syllable too many. Those problems are not major, and in a pop song one or two might pass, but it's better not to have too many of them in one poem.
Other rhymes, like 'love' and 'off,' or 'precisely' and 'found me,' aren't even close: different vowels, different consonants. There are very few rhymes for 'love' in English (dove, above, shove, of, ...?), which is why people usually don't put it at the end of a line. And you can't use an unaccented syllable as the only rhyme.
There are also several grammar mistakes:
when someone's looking good (vorübergehend, nur im Augenblick) > when someone looks good (an sich, sieht schön aus) the beauty > beauty treats you kind > treats you kindly to be more precisely > to be more precise
And I'm not sure the about-face in the last verse works. First you say you didn't find beauty, then you say you found it; to me, that's not 'more precisely,' that's just a contradiction.
But still, your idea about the different things that make a person beautiful is nice, and I like the line 'the look, the light, the love.'
I don't know if you want suggestions, but here are some ideas you might be able to use without changing too much of the poem.
Beautiful, what's that? I haven't got a clue. Beautiful, it's sad that I can't get at you.
It's beautiful, they say, when someone's looking good. If so, then beauty may be any place you look.
To other people, beauty is something deep inside. An inner light? A duty? But beauty you can't hide!
A last one said to me that beauty's always kind. A love all warm and free, but difficult to find.
I put it all together, the look, the light, the love. I searched and watched, but never found what I'm thinking of.
Or rather, more precisely -- and here's why I'm not blue -- a deeper beauty found me. It found me, it was you.
Hope that helps. (-: |
