    cp. versus cf.

    Comment
    For a quotation like:

    Vgl. Dunlap, Bill: xxx

Is it more common to use cp. (compare) or cf. (confer) for "vgl." wenn citing a source?

I would strongly recommend "cf." at least in a British context. That's what I used in all my essays, coursework, and dissertation and never had any complaints by markers.
