in a statistical context, results do not prove hypotheses right or wrong, they support them or fail to provide support for them.

Aber Achtung: Empirische Hypothesen können aus logischen Gründen (Unendlichkeit aller Beobachtungspunkte) nicht "belegt" sondern bestenfalls "widerlegt" werden. Letzteres ist in der Praxis auch nicht immer ganz einfach aber zumindest logisch möglich, weil prinzipiell eine falsifizierende Beobachtung an einer Raum-Zeit-Koordinate dazu genügt.
