Ich finde einfach nichts, was hier gut passt. Beyond the masses klingt nicht so gut und trifft auch den Sinn nicht so ganz, da es eher sowas we "darüber hinaus" bedeutet. Kann ich apart verwenden? Oder gibt's noch was viel Besseres?

    HELP! :)

Is this a slogan? What's the exact context? The standard term is 'customised', but do you need marketing hyperbole?

    Hmm ... beyond the mainstream?

@ John_2: Yeah, it's for a marketing brochure. So something snappy would be nice ;-)
Context: Company XYZ produces "whotsits" which are manufactured to exact customer specifications & measurements whereas other manufacturers offer only ready-made "whotsits", so the customer may not be able to buy a "whotsit" which fits his exact needs. I hope that made it somewhat clearer.

Das hab ich bis jetzt. Wie klingt das für Native-Ohren?

What sets XYZ apart as a manufacturer is the production of whotsits besides the mainstream.

Not so good, Nowhere boy :)

What sets XYZ apart is OK, but

'Besides the mainstream' sounds weird. 'Besides' means 'in addition to'.

That's my problem :) I can't find anything that makes the last part of the sentence sound smooth and natural... and right of course. *sigh*

@ John_2: does your suggestion "beyond the mainstream" fit here?

    So why not

What sets XYZ apart as a manufacturer is the production of customised whotsits?

'sets apart' covers the 'jenseits' bit.

To be honest, I don't actually like this 'mainstream' in its multiplicity of variations ...
