    Hi John_2,
    Hope this helps. ;-)

It's thoracic. Should have said. I am on intravenous coffee as it is, due to several urgent jobs and too little sleep ... :(

Thanks, but I am not too happy with control x-ray, cbhihe. The German Kontrolle is really checkup in medicine.

Bunjes dictionary gives "plain od survey radiograph" for "Übersichtsaufnahme", in case that's any help...

Thanks. Survey x-ray may work. There is a systems survey, after all (not directly related, of course, but in the same general context).

Is it being taken prior to some more detailed radiological investigation?
FWIW I don't think I've ever heard of a "survey X-ray" being requested these days ... possibly in the context of a skeletal survey, but then it wouldn't be restricted to the chest.
The term "control X-ray" might be used, for example, for the KUB (kidneys, ureters, bladdder) film - in essence a plain abdominal X-ray - taken before an IVU, but otherwise I'd stick to a "plain film/X-ray".

It's not entirely clear. The x-ray showed congestion and infiltrates, but then they go on to talk about arrhythmia/AF which seems to have been considered more serious in the immediate term.

    Then I'd still stick to a "plain film"/"plain (chest) X-ray" :-)
