Yep I think so, too. I guess I go with "every little while" and "ever so often". "Every now and then" doesn't fit because it means "hin und wieder", IIRC.
BTW "ruder" is not valid. ;-)

Just for the record and without judgement: I have heard men say 'this is getting on my tits' without physical attributes....
