    Messed up is also ok, as is "my hair's a mess".

    Die Bedeutung ist nicht gleich, aber am Besten mag ich 'a bad hair day', um den Tag zu beschreiben, wo die Haare einfach nicht gehorchen wollen, aber symbolisch stehts für alles was sonst schlecht an dem Tag läuft. Hope you're not having a bad hair day!

    Don't forget that, unlike in German, when referring to your hairstyle, you use the singular form of hair, not "my hairs are a mess".

    Wir haben mal im UNterricht nen Brief von nem waschechten Amerikander gelesen... der hat zwar informal geschrieben, aber da war (to) be screwed up drin.
