Here, "consulting" is more of a euphemism and means asking for and getting as well as giving feedback. It implies a discussion between the boss/manager and the employees. Isn't that what you meant?

Danke, vielmals. Auch für den link zu den Stichwörtern. Ich bin noch etwas unerfahren im Umgang mit dem Forum. One-to-one meeting oder review hört sich ziemlich nah dran an. Beim Lesen der Einträge zum Thema Mitarbeitergespräch stelle ich fest, dass es anscheinend keine 1:1 Übersetzung gibt. Ein Mitarbeitergespräch kann jährlich stattfinden, dann passt performance appraisal prima, kann aber auch zwischendrin stattfinden und nur kurze Zeit in Anspruch nehmen. Danke jedenfalls allen!

In our company there are monthly one-on-one's (meetings manager/employee) to discuss any issues and semi-annual performance reviews/appraisals (with the year-end one being the big one).

I don't think a Mitarbeitergespräch is the same as a Mitarbeiterjahresgespräch, is it?

"Mitarbeitergespräche" are always some sort of evaluation or review meeting (nothing to do with "consulting"), it's a standard term in German HR speak (see #6 and #7). Some companies call them "personal development meeting".
