    to go into one

    Quellen
About the son of a London gangland couple:
"When he was seven, social services required Gypsy, who could not have children herself, to explain that she was not his (Justin's) biological mother, which he found initially very upsetting.

"I went into one, as you can imagine," says Justin who now lives just outside London. "But she reassured me that in every other sense she was my mum and I always called her that." "

    a fit?

Googeln hilft auch nicht weiter, da ist nur "one's shell" im Angebot, aber ich glaube nicht so ganz, dass das hier gemeint ist.
    Kennt jemand diesen Ausdruck?

I would imagine (I've never heard the expression either) it means he got upset/angry or got into a bad mood.

Cf. I went off on one

Perhaps from 'went into a rage'? Although, now that I think of it 'flew' would be more usual.

At any rate, I'd say your instinct is correct in this case Spinatwachtel.
