Jedoch kenne ich auch nicht die offizielle Übersetzung für whicker.

Wir persönlich nennen es "brummeln", wenn unsere Pferde uns oder ihre Boxen-Nachbarn so begrüßen. Es ist ein tiefer, kehliger, vibrierender Ton.

(Wenn es Futter gibt, wird aber bei unseren zwei Pferden nicht gebrummt, sondern sie gehen aufgeregt in der Box hin und her und scharren oder schlagen mit den Hufen).
