Comment		Nein, so kann man das nicht sagen. 'approve me' geht m.E. nicht... 'to approve of sth' gibt's, nur weiß ich nicht, ob das in diesem Satz ideal ist. Ich hätte gesagt: gave his consent to ('to approve' ist übrigens ein Verb) 'chef' ist im Englischen ein Koch. Du meinst z.B. 'boss'... 'a leave of absence' (?) of one year Bitte warte noch weitere posts ab...

Comment		'gave his consent' is totally non-idiomatic in this context (yet again). You can say 'X approved my (application for) leave of absence'.

Comment		... approved/okayed my one-year leave of absence. I'd say (AE) Edit: re "consent," I agree with #2, but you could conceivably say that your boss (reluctantly, perhaps) consented to letting you go out on leave for a year. But that's not exactly the same as what you have in your OP.
