I also agree with all the options Norbert mentions for table-like contexts where the abbreviations function more like symbols and often don't have the period normally used after an abbreviation.
In other contexts where space is not as tight, such as written texts, the traditional abbreviations are Sun., Mon., Tues., Wed., Thurs., Fri., Sat. Those can be used, for example, with months that are also abbreviated (Jan., Feb., Mar., Apr., May, Jun., Jul., Aug., Sept., Oct., Nov., Dec.). E.g.,
Thurs., Apr. 2, 2020 (AE)
