Nope. She engages in sex. Used almost only for women, slang from a time when women were not supposed to admit to wanting/having sex. Practically unknown in the first person back then and thus slightly shocking and very funny when she said it.

#8: Wenn der Satz immer im Zusammenhang wie in #6 zitiert fiel, dann eher wäre etwas wie "Ich mache alles" oder "Ich bin bereit" passend.

Because when she says it, it is connected to the fact that she is closing the show as well.

I don't see any punchline in English connected to her bringing the show to an end. "Put out" doesn't mean "end something".

The joke is about the casting couch - actors sleeping their way to a good role.

She's ending a sketch about that topic by jokily saying that if there are any directors in the audience, she'd like them to know that she will sleep with them in return for a role.

She's not describing a current process of rising up to a good position, though. She's saying that she is always prepared to sleep with people for a job. It's an offer, so more like Mattes' "Ich mach alles, was du willst" type of comment.

Re #14 - I don't think it has anything to do with putting out the lights/ending the show either. It was more of an end-of-show tagline. It did shock people, and I'm sure she loved to end on that.

Certainly it worked as a kind of advertisement (I'm worth taking on a date because...), as in #15.

She deliberately chose that men used about women, one associated with the notion that sex was something women gave to men, that the default feminine behavior was to hold back, not to "give it up", "bestow her favors".

In structure it reminds me of the way political candidates sometimes open or close speeches, like

"My name is John Kennedy and I'm running for president."

No idea if that was a deliberate echo though.

Edit: It was explicit though. Everyone who heard knew she meant sex. Schandtaten sounds too mild to me.

#20 I was thinking the same. You need something that a man would say about a woman, not in a nice way. In a lascivious way.

#21 - "and I'm an alcoholic", yeah, you're right it is that same structure. I think it was because I was imagining it said very brazenly and invitingly that I didn't make that connection.

I read that she did also use it as the last line of her shows for a while in the 60s. But I really don't think it was an allusion to AA (I don't think CM2DD did either), I think the structural similarity to that is just a coincidence.

Wie wäre es mit "Ich tue es"?

Gerade im Kontext der Sechziger wäre der Bezug auf Sex ziemlich deutlich - jedenfalls wenn nicht direkt vorher etwas anderes erwähnt wurde, was zu tun ist.

Die direkte Entsprechung im Deutschen wäre wohl "ich lasse jeden ran".

Nicht unbedingt. Ich dachte auch schon an "Ich mach's mit jedem", aber vor allem im Kontext der casting couch ist es eben nicht jeder. Sondern nur diejenigen, die über Beziehungen oder Einfluss verfügen.

Ich habe das unklar formuliert. Ich meinte, dass "ranlassen" im Allgemeinen die direkte Entsprechung zu "to put out" ist. *Hier* bin ich auch nicht ganz glücklich damit, weil es im Gegensatz zu "to put out" ein Objekt braucht. Und "jeden" ist wie du sagst nicht ideal.

Ja, das mit dem Objekt ist blöd. "Ich mach's" klingt wie ein Werbung für Hornbach :-)

Gibson, die Werbung für Hornbach spielt doch aber gerade mit der Anzüglichkeit.

Nur deshalb ist es doch lustig, wenn Plakate der Bundeszentrale für gesundheitliche Aufklärung neben der Toom-Werbung stehen:

"Ich mach's mit meinem Mann" links, "Respekt, wer's selber macht" rechts.

"Ich tue es" verlangt nach meinem Sprachempfinden weniger die Antwort auf "womit/mit wem?" als "Ich mach's".
