My pen pal must be one of the seldom Brits then, that know what a Stollen is. Without ever sending him one, he always mentioned that he loves Stollen. In the hope that I'll send him some slieces around Christmas time. ;-))) Trying to addict him to Klaben failed. Klaben comes from my local area and it is bit more juicy and more fruity. But never heard any native speaking about Klaben, just hoping to get Stollen. They don't know what really tastes good. :-D ;-)

Here in the UK Marks & Spencer sell Christstollen during christmas time. It is called not called fruit cake or something like this but simply Christstollen.
However, there is an explanation in the small print somewhere.

UK supermarkets Tesco and Waitrose sell it as Stollen, and the recipe book for my Panasonic bread maker also calls it Stollen.

The German chain LIDL ,found in many towns in Ireland, also sell it. Our German teacher used to make one for our class each Christmas;we just called it stollen.
    It is filled with marzipan.

Another German word corrupting the English language! (Is that now no. 5, after Kindergarten and Vorsprung durch Technik?)
Yes, I have only ever found "Stollen" or Xmas-Stollen or Christmas Stollen (NOT Xmas stolen!) in British shops.
