    Mittel

    Kontext/ Beispiele
Im Mittel dieser Länder fühlen sich die "Master" noch am besten auf ihre beruflichen Anforderungen vorbereitet.

Perhaps someone out there can help? "Im Mittel" is my real problem.
    I have translated this as:
On average, those with a Master's degree consider themselves best prepared for the demands of their work.

Yes, "im Mittel" means "on average", "Länder" can be left untranslated or make it "states". But the German phase makes little sense, anyway. What is averaged? The self-assessment of Masters concerning their preparations for the damands of their work; averaged over the Länder?

    My understanding is different.

    1. I reckon *Länder* means rather *countries* than *states* ...?
    2. Compared to employees with other degrees, Masters on average think to be better prepared for their jobs.

Some more context would be appreciated!

Thanks Charlie and Sven. I'll use "on average in these countries" (yes, countries in my context - and I'd conveniently forgotten to translate "dieser Länder", although thaat's really what my problem was ...). This isn't the only part of the text I'm translating where the German isn't very exact ...
