Ich frag mich, ob Kästner an Epictetus oder Shakespeare gedacht hat?

Oder eine andere bekannte Variation:
"There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."
(Shakespeare's Hamlet Act 2, Scene 2 -- selbstverständlich weiß ich das auswendig!)

Die Variation "there is nothing either good or bad, but *doing* makes it so" drängt sich einem fast auf, würde ich aber wahrscheinlich nicht verwenden.

ich denke es ist eher gemeint dass es nicht reicht zu wollen - man muss es auch tun. Geläufig ist mir *wishes wont wash dishes* wenn es in den Kontext passt
