Dein Beispiel hat ja schon im Deutschen nicht die gebräuchlichste Formulierung. -
Wie wäre folgendes:
In the presence of Hans, Susi is ashamed of herself, as Hans knows that she has nicked the vase . . .

to feel/be ashamed in front of so. = sich vor jdm. schämen

@ Daddy: Was ist denn eine gebräuchlichere deutsche Formulierung für 'sich vor jemandem für etwas schämen'?
