penguin listed the most important criteria in #8. I would say, at least 15 or 20 years younger; stunningly attractive (not just pretty or cute), poised and elegant; and expensive-looking -- stylish, wearing designer clothes, etc. And flattered, or apparently so, to be displayed on her husband's arm.
Such a person of course
could (theoretically) be fairly intelligent or have a high-powered job, but it seems relatively unlikely. Middle-aged male academics are as susceptible as other men to sex and status symbols. If a 50-something professor got divorced and acquired a trophy wife (much as men are said to buy red sports cars at that age), she would have to be younger and beautiful. She could also be an academic, but she would probably be a clearly subordinate one, lower down in the hierarchy and very possibly not
as intelligent. That is, intellectual, welll; surely not
highly intellectual.
I like several of the German suggestions too. Are any of them eligible for
