Die Grundsätzliche Bedeutung von "viewer discretion is advised" wäre damit erklärt, ich habe trotzdem keinen Schimmer wie man das übersetzen soll. Auch ich wäre da für Vorschläge recht dankbar. Ich habe den Verdacht, das der Aspekt des Ermessens in diesem Sinne wichtig ist. "Der Film ist nicht jugendfrei" ist mir da deutlich zu weit vom Wortlaut entfernt.
Die Phrase kommt oft genug vor, dass eine genauere Klärung lohnen würde.

Ich finde das trifft es und passt in den Zusammenhang.

Actually, I take that back, I think it may actually read

Viewer discretion is advised

That is, the discretion of the viewer(s).

At any rate, the understood content is 'Viewers are advised to use their own discretion (in deciding whether to watch this program).'
