    Hi!
I found this in in an report about JISC. What does the abbrevation "K" stand for? Does anybody know?

    Thanks!

Das K steht für "-tausend" (abgeleitet von "kilo") - wie z.B. auch bei "Y2K" (the year 2000).

In computing, K sometimes means 1024, because it is a power of 2. So a kilobyte (kB) is sometimes interpreted as 1000 bytes and sometimes as 1024 bytes. Look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilobyte and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K , which describe this ambiguity.
