Warum heißt Blockflöte "recorder", also wörtlich 'Aufnehmer'?

"Aufnehmer" is a more recent meaning of "record". Meaning #2 of the word listed in OED (with example sentences):

"2. a. To practise (a song, tune, etc.). In later use only of birds (cf. 3); †freq. (c 1580–1620) = to sing or warble (a tune, etc.).
1413 Pilgr. Sowle (Caxton 1483) v. viii. 99 When they hadde these instrumentes they recorded songes besyly tylle that they were+parfyte ynowe in al maner musike. 1580 Lyly Euphues (Arb.) 278 Where vnder a sweete Arbour of Eglentine, be byrdes recording theyr sweete notes [etc.]. 1601 Dolman La Primaud. Corr.: a more recent meaning of "recorder". But the OED entry I quote refers to the verb "to record".

es gibt leieder keine andere Übersetzung als "recorder", dabei sind die Griffe mit der Blockflöte nicht immer identisch(ich weiss es jetzt nur von Barockgriff)
