    v.o.

    Sources
    This is from a list of corrections that apply to a record of earthquakes in India in the 1800s.
    Each correction is listed similar to the following:

    S. 26, Z. 1 v.o. Anzufugen:...

    Page 26, Line 1, v.o.(????) To be added:...
    What is the v.o.? Sometimes it is a v.u.

    I'd guess

    v.o. = von oben
    v.u. = von unten

    Total guesswork here, but just to get things started . . .

    can it be von oben/von unten? (i.e. P. 26, Line 1 from the top/from the bottom)

    Since I don't have any idea how it is set up, this is a stab in the dark.

    v.o.: 'vor obigem' ?
    v.u.: 'vor unterem/untenstehendem' ? . . .

    Indeed:
    v.o. = von oben = from the top
    v.u. = von unten = from the bottom

    These are standard ways of marking the locations of errata.
