    Vor der Abzweigung führt ein Güter Weg weiter nach Blabberlidorf.

    This reminds me of Handelweg. . . But trade route seems like a strange thing to say in this context. Am I misunderstanding the German?

    Ja, in Ö sind Güterwege IMO bessere Feldwege/Nebenstraßen für den landwirtschaftlichen Betrieb. Aber eigentlich ein Wort "Güterweg".

    I gather you are working on some Swiss project. Then this doesn't refer to any goods or merchandise. At some point when the government consolidated all those fragmented pieces of property ("Güterbereinigung") and created larger parcels they put in new roads and trails which probably followed the new property lines.

    This may help. Wikipedia is calling these roads Ranch Roads, Farm Roads or Farm-to Market Roads

    Near the foot of your wikipedia link is a link to "agricultural road"


    ---although what's in the picture there I wouldn't personally call an agricultrual road at all, more probably "farm track" or possibly "agricultural track."
