    On Trade / Off Trade

    [Handel]
    Quellen
Alcohol sold in shops to take away is the off trade. Alcohol sold in restaurants is the on trade.

Is the English the standard use in Germany, or is there a better term?

I think, this is what I know as "off licence" vs. "fully licensed". There is no comparable difference in Germany: Alcohol is sold (at lest to adults) as any other food product in all shops who want to sell it. And ALL restaurants sell alcohol with a meal or without - except if they sell nothing at all without a meal ("Speiserestaurant") or are anti alcohol.
