Wörterbuch der Medizin und Pharmazeutik Werner E. Bunjes 1981 Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart New York:
"bland -(reizlos) bland /(Kost) light, mild / (steril) sterile, non-infected"
penguin has it spot on, but I thought I'd just add a dictionary reference ("bland"/"mild" from Roche doesn't always fit the bill)
Depends on context
e.g. a "bland diet" (light diet) or a "bland infarct" (uninfected infarct) but a "clean"/"non-infected" wound
In the examples given here, it means that the wound is clean and healing normally, the scar appears as you would expect (no signs of inflammation or infection) => normal wound healing; wound unremarkable.
