    Cornflake girl

    Quellen
    Never was a cornflake girl
Thought that was a good solution
    Hangin withg the raisin girls
Shes gone to the other side
Givin us a yo heave ho
Things are getting kind of gross
And I go at sleepy time
    This is not really happening
You bet your life it is

(song "Cornflake girl" by tori amos)

I quite don't get this term... is it some kind of metaphor? or some typical slang?

    quoted from the link above:

I dont have the interview like in a magazine, but I do remember hearing it on TV (I think it was Good Morning America). Cornflake girl was symbolism for being plain or poor. Raisin girls are the rich and well off ones. In the song, she says "thought it was a good solution, hanging with the rasin girls" meaning she thought it was better to hang with girls who were like that instead of the poor/plain ones.

i see the cornflake girls as the flakey, fake ones, and the raison girls as the ones who have depth to them, and this song basically being about the different types of women and the competition between them.

Raisins are JUICY, cornflakes are dry and crusty.

Thank you very much, laalaa! That was my first Tori Amos song as well, and not understanding it at all has bothered me, on and off, for years. I just never had the bright idea of asking here.
