    I personally would not use a tilde to mean "approximately" in official texts but perhaps that is more my personal style and not based on any set rules.

    Note that the currency symbol comes before the actual amount in English: €520m

    My British colleagues also write c. as an abbreviation of circa. Would that be OK as well?
