    not in Kansas anymore

    Quellen
"Toto, I've a feeling that we're not in Kansas anymore." (Wizard of Oz)

"Don’t judge by appearances or even by previous conversations. Just remember that this isn’t Kansas anymore."

"Off the beaten path - aka we're not in Kansas anymore."

What does this expression mean? I've read in as the last two examples and none of it has actually something to do with Kansas. The above quote seems to be the original source of the expression, but I still don't know what it means. Can anyone help me?

Ok, I am terribly sorry to say that I can not help you with the German translation but as this is one my very favorite expressions maybe I can help you with the meaning:
Dorothy wakes up in an unreal reality / alternate universe- she is no longer in Kansas (where things are real & normal & safe (ha ha have you been to Kansas City lately!))

    @ meomy
    OKAY!
    A: boondocks not Boondogs
B: not even close to the same thing!
Boondocks = middle of nowhere / back of beyond
Not in Kansas anymore means no longer in a good / safe / nice place
