    das höchste wesen

    Ich sprach in Anlehnung
an Augustinus in meinen Notizen das höchste Wesen ebenfalls
mit Du an, aber ich schrieb es vorsichtshalber groß.

I am afraid I do not understand this entire sentence. Could any one please help me here?

    Thanks

Who is the author, what is the story? A little more context would be nice.

"Hoechstes Wesen" might refer to the Allmighty Lord, wether it's the Christian one or Caesar (hence Augustinus) we don't know.

Does it refer to "Confessions" by St. Augustine?

Like St. Augustine I addressed the Supreme Being with the informal "Du" in my notes, but just to be on the safe side, I spelled it with a capital D.

The author read Augustinus' Confessions, and she is also influenced by a Jewish Hebrew teacher.

The sentence just confused me entirely.
I realize now, thanks to you that "hoechste wesen" must be God Almighty.

    Any more suggestions?
