    I'd support "widespread." Pervasive seems odd here, more like "stubborn" or "unrelenting."

    To me 'pervasive' is stronger, a greater degree -- more like everywhere than in many places. But depending on the context (which we don't have), it might also work.

    In Bangladesh, pervasive poverty has kept generations of families from sending their children to school, and without education, their children's future will be a distressing echo of their own.


    I agree, we don't have the context, but the example above would be a correct use of "pervasive" to me, at least in this type of context: it's been there for a long time and is unlikely to leave anytime soon. LEO also has "durchdringend" for "pervasive," which seems more befitting that idea.
