"Unbesiegbar" ist vielleicht nicht falsch, angesichts der grammatischen Form wäre es aber schon eine recht freie Übersetzung. Kontext entscheidet. In Bezug auf Mandela und den Film ist beides denkbar.

Umgekehrt geben folgende Online-Lateinwörterbücher an, dass "invictus" sehr wohl "unbesiegbar" sein kann. Meine Aussage aus # 2 kann also nicht so stehen bleiben, # 1 ist also immerhin denkbar und jedenfalls nicht falsch:
