That's a little less formal than Byrdy's option. Blondi's is, of course, plain wrong.

Anyway, it is always good to know why things are plain wrong. Well, your explanation "I ain't heard it" is impressive too, I must admit, ;-)it's better than no reason at all.

I have never heard "sweep in front of your own door", nor would it occur to me to say it. In the same way, a German probably wouldn't say "Da man jedoch immer zuerst sein eigenes Haus in Ordnung bringen sollte... ," :)

BUT
put/set (one's) house in order in BE means - to organize one's affairs in a sensible, logical way. Is that what is intended here? See the above links for other suggestions - "People in glass houses should'nt throw stones" "mind your own business" etc.
