Jerowski, No ... it's not behind the back. It's a public and sometimes televised event, where the jokes are said directly to the person.
Do they exist in Germany? I can't think of a name or way to describe it.

Allerdings gibt es so etwas wie die TV-Roasts m.W. in Deutschland nicht und daher auch kein 100% deckungsgleiches Wort. Unsere Karnevalsveranstaltungen kommen dem teilw. nah, aber keine Ahnung wie es dort bezeichnet wird.
