    Ladenschlussgesetz

    [econ.]
    Context/ examples

Can't believe there isn't a thread on this in LEO yet :-/ Is there a hard-and-fast English expression used to refer to this uniquely German law?

SuggestionGerman shop closing hours act (Ladenschlussgesetz)
    Sources
    Context/ examples
"In addition, the Shop Closing Hours Act (Ladenschlussgesetz) significantly affects the work hours of employees in retail by way of limiting shop opening hours. "

EIRO uses the above, see the link). As always in cases like this, I would add "German" if necessary.

I don't know if the German law is unique. Britain has a "Sunday trading act" and Australia and New Zealand appear to have "shop trading hours acts". There are also numerous non-anglophone countries with "shop opening hours acts".
