| Kommentar | "sod" ist doch relativ mild, oder - man kann ja jemanden auch als "lucky sod" bezeichnen, z.B. Und Leute, die nie "four-letter-words" verwenden, habe ich trotzdem schon "oh, sod it" sagen hören. Mir kam das eigentlich immer eher wie eines dieser "möchte gerne fluchen, darf es aber nicht" - Worte vor, wie auch "sugar" für "shit" oder so.
Yes, I think you're right about that. OK, "sod" is somewhat stronger than "sugar", but I know what you mean. "silly sod" is used too and also always sounds relatively harmless to my ears. Indeed, I even question the Oxford dictionary "taboo" tag you've quoted here:
