Strangely, it's difficult to find dictionary definitions for a common colloquial expression like "to throw or dump sth. into so's lap". The idiomconnection.com doesn't look particularly convincing, but it's basically the right idea. Maybe someone else can come up with a better source?

My original source for the German was on Tatort (Borowski und die Frau am Fenster). The sentence was something like: "...einer dieser Anwärter, die du mir aufs Auge gedrückt hast". (while talking to a colleague)
"...one of those candidates that you threw/dumped into my lap" would fit perfectly here IMO.

At any rate, neither the German or English idioms are in LEO. (or should that be nor? I give up!)

Duden.de has almost the exact same definition for the German as redensarten-index so I didn't bother posting it.

Edit: It looks like the English expressions might be AE only. Any input on this?
