When you use the plural 'staffs' (see Guardian examples) that means two or more workforces, which would not be translated as 'die Mitarbeiter' but as 'Belegschaften', which is also in Leo under 'staff', correctly with the plural.

"Staff (sg.) Only" = "Nur für Mitarbeiter (pl.)"

In dieser Bedeutung niemals mit "s".

#2 But in this meaning (die Mitarbeiter) the word without an -s is in the plural; it takes a plural verb.

I support the change of the entry.

@CM2DD: The plural “Belegschaften” wouldn’t be idiomatic, though. Compare: They lost their lives = Sie verloren ihr Leben.. In the 19th and 20th centuries = im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert
