staff - pl. staffs - die Mitarbeiter Pl.

    staff pl.

    die Mitarbeiter pl.

    Beispiele/ Definitionen mit Quellen
1 [treated as singular or plural] all the people employed by a particular organization:
    a staff of 600
hospital staff were not to blame

To that end, the editorial staffs of The Times, Sunday Times, The Sun (and, of course, the now-defunct News of the World) started to relocate to the nearby Thomas More Square.

Journalists used to join big newspapers and have their career looked after, McCabe said. That's over, and news staffs of the future will be smaller.
When you use the plural 'staffs' (see Guardian examples) that means two or more workforces, which would not be translated as 'die Mitarbeiter' but as 'Belegschaften', which is also in Leo under 'staff', correctly with the plural.

"Staff (sg.) Only" = "Nur für Mitarbeiter (pl.)"

In dieser Bedeutung niemals mit "s".

#2 But in this meaning (die Mitarbeiter) the word without an -s is in the plural; it takes a plural verb.

I support the change of the entry.

@CM2DD: The plural “Belegschaften” wouldn’t be idiomatic, though. Compare: They lost their lives = Sie verloren ihr Leben.. In the 19th and 20th centuries = im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert
