For the record, I too agree. The existing entry needs marking [Brit.], and the American equivalent needs adding.

As the parallel thread shows, 'off' in this sense is used in AE in other contexts, like 'called off' meaning canceled, or just 'off' alone meaning not happening. But not with 'rained.'
